  • The Power of Intention and Visualization in Energy Healing

Written by Rachel Harwood , C2C Business Director and Reiki Master Teacher " Just as tuning forks will vibrate together when tuned to the same frequency, your thoughts and intentions resonate with similar energies in the universe . ” ~ Rachel Harwood *This is the fourth post in the Energy Healing blog post series: Post 1 - The Power of Energy Healing: Uncovering the Basics Post 2 - Unlocking the Power Within: An Introduction to the Seven Chakras Post 3 - Understanding the Role of Meridians and Auras in Energy Healing Post 4 - 5 Powerful Energy Healing Techniques You Need to Know Intention and visualization are not just abstract concepts; they are fundamental practices in the realm of energy healing that can profoundly influence outcomes. Over the years, through my own experiences and those of others, I’ve come to understand just how pivotal our thoughts and intentions can be, both for ourselves and for those we aim to help. In energy healing, intention is the focused direction of thought and energy toward a specific goal or outcome. Visualization is the practice of creating a mental image or scenario that aligns with that intention. When these two elements are combined, they create a powerful synergy that can facilitate healing, transformation, and positive change. Let me share an example from my practice. When I work with clients, there are times when I’m guided by an intuitive sense to visualize something that feels right for the individual. Imagine a client lying on a table during a session. I might feel compelled to visualize a green light moving through their body. This green light symbolizes healing energy, and as I focus on it, I send this energy to the client, trusting that this is what they need in that moment. Rachel talking about harnessing Reiki for everyday positivity and balance What’s remarkable is that after the session, when I discuss the experience with the client, they often describe sensations or visions that match exactly what I was visualizing—without us having talked about it beforehand. For example, they might say, "I felt a warm, green light moving through my body," or "I kept seeing green during the session." These experiences are too consistent to be mere coincidence. They underscore the powerful connection between intention, visualization, and the actual energy being exchanged during the healing process. Bringing Intention into Each Day This understanding has led me to appreciate how energy healing can be integrated into everyday life through simple acts of intention and visualization. You don’t need to be in a formal session to harness this power; you can do it during ordinary activities.  For instance, consider going for a walk on a beautiful sunny day. You can elevate this routine activity into a moment of self-care by setting a clear intention. Before you step outside, decide that during this walk, you will absorb as much of the positive, healing energy from the sun and nature as possible. As you walk, visualize yourself soaking in this energy with every step. You might also choose to repeat a positive mantra, such as "I am strong, I am loving, I am lovable." This not only enhances the experience but also reinforces positive beliefs about yourself. Another example is taking a shower. Water is naturally cleansing, but you can amplify its effects by setting the intention that the water is washing away any negative energy or stress you’ve accumulated throughout the day. As the water flows over you, visualize it carrying away any tension, leaving you refreshed and renewed. This combination of intention and visualization transforms a simple shower into a powerful ritual of cleansing and renewal. The principle behind these practices is rooted in the idea that like attracts like. Just as tuning forks will vibrate together when tuned to the same frequency, your thoughts and intentions resonate with similar energies in the universe. This means that the thoughts you hold in your mind are constantly attracting corresponding energies into your life. If you’re not mindful, negative thoughts can lead to a cycle of negative experiences.  For example, think about the saying that "bad things happen in threes." Often, when something bad happens, we dwell on it, asking, "Why is this happening to me?" This negative focus can attract more negativity, creating a cycle of unfortunate events. However, the opposite is also true—by focusing on positive intentions and visualizations, you can attract positive experiences and outcomes. Conclusion In conclusion, intention and visualization are powerful tools in energy healing that can be applied to both formal sessions and everyday life. By being mindful of your thoughts and intentions, and by consciously directing them in positive ways, you can harness the power of energy to create the life and well-being you desire. Whether you’re helping others or simply going about your daily routine, these practices can transform the ordinary into the extraordinary, opening the door to profound healing and positive change. In the final post, we'll talk about practical ways to integrate these techniques into your daily life.
