What Is Mindful Minutes for Schools?

You’ve probably heard of Challenge to Change, but do you know about Mindful Minutes for Schools? Mindful Minutes is the nonprofit 501(c) 3 that helps to financially support our mission at Challenge to Change. It is this nonprofit for which we are holding our YoGala event on April 7, 2022.

Mindful Minutes for Schools was founded in 2018 by Molly Schreiber and Mae Hingtgen. They originally started this nonprofit because they wanted to support the social and emotional well-being of children, teens, teachers, and schools through the practices of yoga and mindfulness. They knew that when used effectively, yoga and mindfulness have a ripple effect of first helping and supporting individuals to live happier and more peaceful lives, that then extends outwards to create calmer and more positive communities.

While Mindful Minutes for Schools was originally started to help fund Challenge to Change’s Yoga and Mindfulness in the Schools program, it has evolved into so much more. Funds raised through Mindful Minutes for Schools now send teachers into many local shelters and juvenile detention centers, they support Brain Health Now’s Retreat rooms in local high schools, and they provide scholarships for local teachers to take our trainings on mindfulness and social-emotional health. This is in addition to providing our Yoga and Mindfulness curriculum to over 165 schools in Iowa and the surrounding areas.

The mission of Mindful Minutes for Schools is to leverage community resources which will foster opportunities for our youth, schools and teachers to incorporate yoga and mindfulness in both school and daily life. We are so proud of all we have accomplished, but there is still so much more we can do. This is why we are holding our YoGala event on Thursday, April 7; to help spread the word of who we are and all that we do.

The world is a beautiful place, and we are so happy to be able to do what we can to make it more beautiful still. Please consider attending our YoGala event or donating to our cause. We can’t wait to see how we continue to grow in the year ahead!
