Middle School education is a critical time in a child’s
development, focusing on social-emotional growth, and emotional regulation to enhance overall self-esteem and mental health.
By working on developing the strategies and tools to support themselves physically, mentally, and emotionally, teens are better equipped to navigate the challenges that come their way.
Mindful Education in Schools supports the CASEL competencies, Iowa SEL competencies, and the Six Seconds Know Choose and Give framework.

THE FIVE PARTS OF PRACTICE
Seated Practice
Calms the nervous system, refocus the brain, and relaxes the body
Movement
Physical practice of mind, body, and breath that brings one to the present moment
Heart of the Lesson
Students learn new social-emotional skills and mindfulness techniques
Close of Practice
Repetition of simple words, phrases, or songs support mindfulness, self-esteem, and self-regulation.
Guided
Mindfulness Practice
A safe time in which students can pause and is often guided by a song or yoga story.
